Smiley

Nothing gets people going like a smiling baby. Sure pushes my buttons :))

Contorsionist

She sucks two fingers, 4 fingers, her whole fist - but i am not complaining. But when she starts sucking her toes...

bharathi singing !!

Here you can see madam trying her best to sing a nursery rhyme!!! (I think she knows only one, other time she is singing tamil songs to her)

the baby seems to like it though. theres no accounting for tastes.

superbaby

its a bird, its a plane, no its the flying baby!

at least thats what she must have felt like in her kangaroo pouch. We havent had the guts to try it out in real life situation though.

Playtime pics

turonover!

major success story in life. she has finally managed to turn over!

At first she couldnt manage it, so she was getting bugged. See the video below..

But finally she managed it!

since then you cant take your eyes off her. She turns over in a jiffy and assumed bhujangasana. the real fun will come when she starts crawling i suppose :)

Deepak Hemangi leave

Back home

First flight for Sanju

Came back on the airline ofall small babies - Air Deccan. Chintu got a 10% ticket with 100% taxes (sigh) and soon we were back in bom.

She was really well behaved - no crying, no wailing.

We came back to a grand welcome, and she met her uncle, aunt and cousins for the first time.

Farewell to Madras

Deepak Hemangi and gang had finally come down for their annual holiday, and soon it was time for me to go to Mdras and collect the terrible two.

her mom and dad are going to miss her a lot.

1st anniversary = 2nd outing

So as 1st anniversary rolls along, we decided to go out again. Theres only one place to go in Chennai -Mahabs and Pondy.

So off we went to Mahabs. last time we had got a very nice hotel, but couldnt get the same one. Spent the night there, and then went to Pondy. Spent the day at her aunts place and ate a lot of good food (i cant imagine why i am getting so fat) then went to a fancy resort to spend our anniversary.

She pulls her own hair and then cries. What to do?

the phone call

One fine day she calls and says "You are coming here on 14th arent you?"

I innocently say 'Why? whats so great about 14th?"

Cold silence.

Then she says icily "I married a moron on that day, one year ago"

OOps.

One year down. Shucks.

Aaji rocks!

Naming! Granma and granpa meet Sanju

April 13th was the naming ceremony. Mom and dad came down to Chennai and met Sanju for the first time.

I ended up there wearing a red shirt borrowed from hemant and sat through a long ceremony in Tamil, surrounded by her folks. Miloni also came over for the naming.

First outing

Bharathi started to go cross eyed sitting at home, so she called me with an SOS. "Come here and take me out somewhere. I am going mad"

Must be the first time she sat at home for so long. :)

So I dutifully went over, and we hired a car and went out to Mahabalipuram for a days outing. Both our moms were scandalised, but alls well that ends well.

My normal interaction with her is like this

passport

baby sanjanas got her own passport now. check out the passport photo.

Whos who?

you tell me :)

first month at home

After delivery i hung around in Chennai till Sanjana came back from ICU, and then it was back to Bombay for me.

Bharathi spent the first 2 months recovering from operation and getting acquainted with baby and motherhood.

Hordes of people came to visit, and all of them brought
1) Johnson and Johnson maal for the baby
2) Horlicks
3) Garlic - to help in lactation (also probably to keep husbands away i suppose)

also note Bharathis gown - first time ever she wore a gown :) and probly found the ugliest one in madras :0

Video star

I still havent figured out how to embed videos on blogger. So to see Sanju in action, please go my youtube link to see lots of videos of her in action

return from ICU

As she was ceasarian and big sized, (and maybe because i had insurance :)) the doc said that she better shift to the neo natal ICU and be fed by intra venous until her lungs had fully shed the placental fluid inside them.

So she was duly shifted to Dr Mehtas hospital, and spent 4 days there, causing great concern to grand parents and relatives. Bharathi was quite cool about it, and used the time to recuperate from the operation and trauma. I was also fairly relaxed, but cheesed off. Too many hospital visits lately.

anyway, alls well that ends well, and Sanju baby came back soon. and i finally had the chance to hold her in my hands. i refused to let anybody else touch her, and carried her all the back to Appasamy hospital.

Sanju baba - freshly hatched

no, thats not about da dutt. These are photos of Sanjana baby. from freshly hatched onwards. Sanjana was born on 23rd March 07 at noon in Appasamy hospital, Chennai.

it was hot and humid when they wheeled away Bharathi for the ceasarian, but that wasnt the only reason I was sweating :)

Sanjana had a pretty happening stay in the womb, survived a car crash, travels to various places, and not to mention a 100 kg father bumping around.

But all was well, a healthy daughter was born (as was predicted by nadi jyotish), tipping the scales at 4.2 kg (the jyotish didnt talk about that)
